The Westsiders
Our Mission
The WestSiders will research the history and memories of one of America's most progressive neighborhoods of African American families during the period centered around 1920-1950. The boundaries of this neighborhood include: Epworth to W. Grand Boulevard, Tireman to Warren, Vinewood to Grand River, Buchanan to W. Grand Blvd., and American, Bryden, and Central. The chronology will be documented through activities and projects, i.e.: books, video, etc., and offered to the general public, i.e., individuals, community based organizations, educational institutions, churches, the media, etc., in efforts to educate and inform residents, i.e., youth, seniors, etc., about the cultural and historical richness of the neighborhood known as...
